Decorating for Springtime does not have to be difficult. It can be easy, fun to do, and helps to bring color and joy to your home. Using candles, mirrors, colors and plants can help to bring your fireplace mantle into the springtime.

In this post you will learn the top 5 tips on how to decorate your fireplace with spring decor and elevate your space.

Favorite Fireplace Decor things

#1 – Find a great neutral mirror

Mirrors have been all the rage in most households since the 14th century, but they do go back to ancient times with handheld mirrors. In Europe, gilded mirrors were popular and commonly placed over fireplaces.

To keep the theme going, adding a mirror over the fireplace with your Spring Fireplace Decor helps to not only bounce light through the room, but also to give interest and depth to the space.

Finding the right mirror, now that is the difficult part. Do you want it colored? Do you want it white? Is your style neutral or will you decorate more towards Farmhouse style? These are all very important questions when deciding which mirror is right for your fireplace decor.

White mirrors, for instance, can be used for any holiday or style, while black or gold frames can be out of style or bounce back in depending on the year and holiday. Most importantly, make sure to pick a mirror frame color and style that fits YOU and not the current fad.

Our mirror has been in my family for quite some time, although, it was not always white. Painting it white happened about 10 years ago. This mirror was in my grandparents’ house, and when my husband and I were first married, we lived there to take care of the house and get on our feet. My grandparents were both in assisted living by that point, so the house was empty, and they offered to rent it to us.

The mirror, once the house did sell, was left behind and my husband and I actually loved it, even in its golden oak coloring. The glass itself is VERY heavy, this mirror is like 50 pounds. For real. You can tell the quality and age of a mirror by the weight of it. New mirrors are lighter and do not have as many imperfections in the glass as an old mirror will have.

Starting your Spring Fireplace Decor off with a mirror helps you to build on your designs and it sets the tone for your decorating.

#2 – Bring in a pop of color

Adding items on your fireplace for the spring can help to bring out the bright colors to match the outside. Yellows for flowers, green for the trees and pink for budding flowers.

Adding color can come in many different ways. One of them can be a vase with or without flowers. But for the spring, adding flowers to your Fireplace Decor can help to elevate your style.

Some ways to add color to your fireplace decor in spring are vases or other items to decorate the fireplace with. What is in style now? What is a classic look? Do you want Farmhouse style or Modern or Cottage? These are all important questions to ask when you decide to style your fireplace.

For a fun pop of color and a cute spin on a vase, use a new brightly colored rainboot for your flowers to display on your fireplace this spring.

#3 – Layer with a garland

A big way to elevate your Spring Fireplace Decor is to add a strand of garland on the mantle. The garland can be green using pine or floral using flowers. Garland can also be ivy or any type of greenery. Most crafting stores do sell strands of garland or bundles of greenery that work great at this look.

Tie the strands of greenery together to make a long garland if you desire and then lay it on your mantle for a cute decoration idea. In addition to the garland, you can also add flowers or colors to your garland to help tie your decoration style into the fireplace decor.

Garland, bought at a store, can also be wooden beads, felt items and more. They are colorful and fun when added to a mantle.

#4 – Candles are ALWAYS a hit

Candles have always been party of most decorating styles. Pillars, taper, jar, warmers, tealights and more. Adding candles to your Spring Fireplace Decor can help to draw interest upwards and adds color and amazing scents if you use a scented candle.

Candles can be in a beautiful jar with spring scents or pillars in a beautiful brass or copper candlestick.

Mix it up, your candlesticks do not have to match, mixing up the styles and sizes an add an eclectic style to your Spring Fireplace Decor. If you can’t find the perfect candlesticks, search at your local thrift store for sourcing.

#5- Personalize your mantle

To personalize your mantle, here are a few tips.

Use pictures or wall decor you have on hand to decorate your mantle for the spring season. Everyone has a few framed pieces of art or signs.

What to use for your personalized item? Anything with the first letter of your last name works. If you don’t have anything to use, you can easily make one with only three ingredients: cardboard, yarn and tape.

On a large piece of cardboard, trace the letter you need and then cut it out. Once your letter is cut out, use a pastel or a neutral color, and then wrap the letter with the yarn. Tape the beginning of the yarn on the back and then when done, tuck the end and then tape the yarn on the back as well.

This letter covered in yarn can be a beautiful and inexpensive way to personalize your spring fireplace decor for your mantle.
